هناك شيء آخر عرفته من خلال تجربة الحرب؛ عرفت بأننا لسنا جادين أبداً، لا في كتاباتنا ولا في قراءاتنا، ذلك أن ما كتبناه وما قلناه لا يساوي جزءً يسيراً من هذا الألم الهائل: ألم الصدمة المميتة المُعرية.. صدمة الحرب.. وجهاً لوجه أمام الموت.” وكل مواجهة حقيقية للموت هي وجود أصيل” كما سماه (هيدجر). وبعد التجربة بدأت أقرأ وأكتب بجنون.. أكتب، لا لكي أحمي نفسي فحسب، ولا لكي يلمع اسمي أكثر.. بل لكي أكون أكبر من مؤامرات العالم كلها، أكبر من العالم نفسه.. ولأصنع لنفسي معنى يتجاوز كل ألم وانسحاق، لأكون بمستوى الحرب من حيث الفعل.. وإلا فإنها ستبقى أكبر مني.
